Add Participants to your Open School Roster

Add participants to your member list one-by-one

You as the administrator can add participants to a member list, which will provide them access to the courses.

  1. Log in to the IHI website at www.ihi.org/login.
    You will see your name in the corner of the website after you have successfully logged in.
  2. Go to the Manage Open School page: www.ihi.org/ManageOpenSchool.
  3. This page lets you search for people who are registered under your same organization. Enter someone’s initials and click search.

  4. Your search results will show everyone registered under your organization with those initials. Click “Select” next to the person that you would like to add to your group.

  5. That persons record will display. Click “Next”.

  6. You will be returned to the Manage Open School page. But notice now the person you selected is on your list.
  7. Repeat steps 3 – 6 for each person.
  8. Once someone is on your member list, that person can continue to the Open School courses at www.ihi.org/OnlineCourses. If they are prompted to purchase a subscription when they try to begin, they should log out and log back in. That should trigger our system to look at your member list and add their access.

Add a large group of participants in bulk

If you have a very large group, you may want to add all participants at once.

  1. Log in to the IHI website at www.ihi.org/login. You will see your name in the corner of the website after you have successfully logged in.
  2. Go to the Manage Open School page: www.ihi.org/ManageOpenSchool.
  3. Go to the very bottom of this page, and click the “Open School Membership List” button.

  4. The next page will show a list of those who are registered under your organization. Click the Export button, and select Excel.

  5. You will receive a spreadsheet. Go through that spreadsheet and mark column A as “Yes” for everyone that you would like to be in your group.

  6. After you have marked everyone as “Yes” that should be in your group. Save the Excel file.
  7. Email this Excel file to openschool@ihi.org. The Open School team will connect with IHI’s IT team, who will then update your participant list to include everyone marked as “Yes”. This will take a few business days.
